Clinical Preceptors

Consistent with the mission of the PA program, we educate our students to provide medical care to patients and families from diverse backgrounds and cultures. In order to achieve this goal, we expect our students to apply their knowledge and skills in a variety of clinical settings to patients of all ages. For more information about how our students are prepared for the clinical phase, please visit the PA curriculum page. Our students complete 6-week clerkships consecutively throughout the clinical year in:

  • Inpatient Internal Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Primary Care
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Behavioral Health
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Elective (medicine or surgery sub-specialty)

Once the students have completed their clerkships they must complete summative examinations, if successful receive a Master of Science Health Sciences (MSHS) degree, and are eligible to take the NCCPA PA National Certifying Exam. Precepting students is a useful way to increase the PA workforce at your institution.

We welcome your interest in this opportunity and look forward to your collaboration.
