Annual Health Clearance
  • Current ResidentsCurrent residents are required to have a health assessment annually. Residents should report to Employee Health Services (EHS) to have their annual assessment completed. Clearance must be complete by August 31. Residents who work overnight and wish to be seen following their shift should report to EHS at 7:30 AM. Residents on the day shift should report to EHS between the hours of 9:00 and 3:30 PM.
  • New Residents - Pre-Visit Checklist: Employee Health Visit - Before your appointment, send your completed Employee Health Packet, Immunizations, Positive Titers, and QFT to employeehealthservices@gwu-hospital.com.  On the day of the appointment, Employee Health will review the items listed below. Should you need a vaccine or titer to confirm immunity or CXR for past positive QFT, this will be done at Employee Health at no cost to you.

Appointment

The School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) offers, and the Resident Physician accepts an Appointment at the SMHS in (program) for a period of one (1) year, unless terminated sooner in accordance with the provisions of the Resident Agreement or the Resident Manual, as amended from time to time (the "Term"). No appointment beyond the Term is promised, assured, or to be implied by an agreement. Reappointment, non-renewal of appointment, or non-promotion shall be determined in accordance with the specific policies set forth in the Resident Manual.

 

Visa Information

Visas accepted for Graduate Medical Education at George Washington University:

J-1 (Exchange Visitor Visa) sponsored by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Application is processed by the GME Office. The resident/fellow must meet the criteria of the ECFMG for sponsorship.

  • Note: The J-1 must be a clinical J-1 and not a research J-1.

H-1 B – The University does not sponsor foreign national physicians for Graduate Medical Education programs for the H-1B visa. O-1
