Physician - Led Courses

Emergency Medical Services is committed to training the next generation of health care professionals. As such we offer a number of physician-lead undergraduate and graduate courses to meet the needs of students from a wide variety of health care fields. These courses may be taken as electives to augment programs of study across the University, with prior Academic Advisor approval.

Paramedic Refresher Course

This course classroom discussions and practical exercises are facilitated by senior EMS professionals and practicing physicians specializing in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, anesthesia, and critical care medicine. This course meets the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) requirements for all Mandatory and Flexible Core Content. It also meets the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services Category 1 requirements to recertify.

Welcome to the Emergency Medical Services programs. We know that working adult students need classes with a flexible schedule to balance their professional, personal, and educational responsibilities. In order to meet this need, all courses are conducted online and offered in a flexible, asynchronous format. This setup provides a convenient option for self-disciplined and self-directed students to pursue the program and prepare for professional advancement while continuing their professional and personal commitments.
